Boundaries By Henry Cloud Review

Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No, to Take Control of Your Life was the key that helped me gain control of my life. It brought such a relief unlike any other. Why had I not stumbled upon it sooner?!

I had been a people please and never knew when or how to say ” no “. I wouldn’t of thought that things could change. I simply thought that I was a flexible person and I tended to do what was more convenient for other people.

Too many people like myself were just not taught how to set boundaries. Everyone needs to set healthy, productive, and constructive boundaries in order to be happy. Your relationships will not be damaged but if anything they will be so much stronger.

This book can be used by anyone of any religious background although I will warn you that there is a lot Christian in orientation.

Dr Townsend and Dr. Cloud did great in going into the amount of detail that they did. They explain how to set your boundaries and also how to enforce them. It even has words on how to react to people who respond to your boundaries in a negative way.

This book encouraged me in a huge way to build boundaries. I am grateful that Dr. Cloud and Dr. Townsend came out with a book that talked about this issue. Every Christ Follower needs to know his or her own limits for every type of relationship they hold in life.

I now feel like I live a happier life. There are all kinds of boundaries I have built to have a better relationship with myself, others, and God. I would advise everyone to read Boundaries: When to Say Yes, How to Say No, to Take Control of Your Life. It is an epiphany waiting to happen, and I hope it brings a refreshing breeze for you as it did for me.

Review Of The Case For Christ By Lee Strobel

In The Case for Christ, world renowned journalist and former atheist Lee Strobel interviews many highly regarded biblical scholars about the concerns of historical, scientific, and psychiatric evidence that play into solving one of history’s greatest riddles: that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God. It is a compelling book that will truly intrigue your mind, heart and soul.

I really enjoyed reading this book so much that I’ve read it several times since then.. As one who once questioned the truth of the Bible myself (albeit in my younger, more rebellious years), I believe that Strobel did a great job in probing for the answers to the questions that have stirred debate for centuries.

Arguments are addressed on each side of the case, which ultimately allows you—the reader of this book, to form your own opinion and to draw your own conclusions.

I was hooked by Strobel’s hard-hitting journalistic examinations of Christian scholars..

Strobel’s writing style makes this book easy to follow and he always gets right to the point.. Throughout the book, he asks the tough questions from his interviewees and often does not stop pressing until he gains a satisfactory answer.

In my opinion, The Case for Christ has something for anyone.

This book will give believers new material that will further solidify their faith..

It also is a tool for non-believers who want to know why Christianity is so important to so many people.

I really liked this book.

If you have ever had doubts, or are looking for answers to what is arguably the greatest question in our religion, I encourage and advise you to find a copy of Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ. Read and analyze it. Solve the case for yourself.

A Review Of Listen To My Dream – The Book Offering Eulogy To Martin Luther King Jr

Listen To My Dream

Dreaming and sticking for that vision is what the book Listen To My Dream hopes to share. The book is generally about the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. from his early years until he was murdered in Memphis on April 4, 1968.  It speaks of how this young black boy wonders on why he is treated unlikely by other people and dreams on abolishing discrimination between the white people and the so called Negroes.

This 40 pages soft covered book is separated into two remarkable areas. The first part is full of narrative poem depicting the detailed life of Martin Luther King, Jr. since he was a young boy. Life partners Michael and Debi Pearl, load this part with multi-colored drawings that even small girls and boys be attentive on this encouraging story. Part two of the book displays extensive details about how Martin Luther King, Jr. influenced the civil rights movement.

The book, Listen To My Dream, started out from the time little Martin questioned his mother why people are dealing with him not like the others and how come he is a black boy. However, his desires of hope and assistance for his fellow men was enthused by the support of his teacher, Ms. Lemon of Oglethorpe Elementary and was set to have faith in that vision.

Later, he was further convinced to put his dreams into a reality when Rosa Parks refused to give up her front seat for a white person, thus King structured a boycott of the Montgomery bus system until all colored persons are treated equally. In due course, the Supreme Court banned discrimination in 1956 and both black and white share the same privileges. It closes with King’s memorial after he was murdered at Memphis in April 4, 1968.

This children’s book is a great reflection on dreaming and transforming it into reality that would make a great difference into the lives of millions of people in our world. Even though the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. is filled with details, the book, Listen To My Dream, designed an artistic method for children to pay attention and focused on a remarkable section of history. The poetic approach of the book makes it enticing to read aloud to children and the account on the life of Martin Luther makes it educational for young ones to learn how people gained their equal rights as well as appreciate the fair privileges they now have.

Listen To My Dream is an inspiration to people dreaming and wanting their dreams to become a reality. Martin Luther King, Jr.  lived a life full of hope and determination worthy of all the credit even until the present days.

Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life

What on earth am I here for? That is the questions we all ask, from the time we learn to walk, speak, and think to the time we are dying. Many times it goes unanswered or if it is somehow answered, it is unclear. We often ask the selfish questions over our existence. Who is our soul mate? What career will we do for our life-time? The question we should be asking should pertain to the Almighty and his plan for us.

We need to keep in mind that God has always had us in mind, before He crossed our minds. There is a reason why we are here and although we choose our careers, hobbies, and spouses, God wishes us to execute them in a Christian-like manner.

I know my role on earth and for eternity thanks to Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.

The Purpose Driven Life is a 40-day spiritual journey that will answer that important question:”Why am I here”. I know that you can and will learn a lot more about yourself and what you indeed should be striving for in life. Sure, It may take more or even less days than 40 to get the guidance you are looking for, but picking up this book is a real reminder that God is in control , is at work, and is by your side.

You may have never been confident that there was a plan for your life. It is no accident that we exist, live, and breathe. There is a plan behind it all and the hand that guides it is the hand of God. There is a loyalty to embrace for our Creator.

It takes focus and discipline to actually DO what you are here to do. God cares about HOW we are as people, and not who we are as people which is topsy-turvey in today’s culture. That is what I took from the book. I encourage you to read through this and find out more for yourself.

Review Of Fearless By Max Lucado

We all have fears, and we all have to face them. Sometimes we are scared of slipping and usually we are most scared of the embarrassment that may follow. There is a wide spectrum of things that can ignite our fears; there are things such as creepy spiders.. and then there are also fears such as fear of dying and even inadequacy.

Preacher and Author Max Lucado helps us cope with these issues with his heartwarming book Fearless. He does this by highlighting scriptures that all address fear and also through the application of real-life stories and examples that either he or people he has known have experienced. While his book offers much encouragement, it also provides strength and begins the healing process from our run-ins with previous occurrences that initiated and developed our fears. He tells us to always keep our faith in God and to always trust in Him. This book is divided into chapters that deal with fears that we all have faced at one time or another. For example, he covers the dears of: violence, death, disappointing God, protecting family, and even the dear of whether God exists or not. He talks about many kinds of fears, but mostly how to live a life without fear-combating it to live a life, fearlessly. After presenting one of these fears, he then helps you to unravel tactics that should be able to relieve you of these fears and that will ultimately allow you to proceed along the path that God had originally intended. I believe the message of this book is that by admitting and confronting our fears with God, we will then be able to face new circumstances in life and face life in a new light of freedom and most importantly faith.

Even if you can’t pinpoint any of your fears, Fearless by Max Lucado will prove to be a breath of fresh air, and strengthen your faith and further your relationship with God. Lucado hopes to teach us to be fearless in our relationship with God..

The Five Love Languages Book

WOW! Author Gary Chapman has served as a marriage counselor for thirty years.

He wrote this book concerning the five love languages that he identified: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.

It seems that today we have forgotten what the words “for as long as we both shall live.” I believe that marriage is a commitment that—in most cases, should be kept and valued.

It helps the reader identify the wants and needs of his or her partner.

Everybody is a unique individual with specific wants and needs. Chapman helps to clarify the differences between these identities by illustrating each love language with some real-life examples that he has gathered throughout his career as a marriage counselor.

This book is great read as it makes you realize so much about your partner, family, friends and even yourself. You can do this simply by recognizing and learning about the love language(s) that you and your loved ones most identify with.

Chapman makes this an easy read using his friendly style of writing.

Gary has created a life-changing and marriage saving book. Relationships are two-way streets; it’s not just what YOU get out of them, but also what you present. You find someone you love and you put forth the effort to keep that relationship alive. This book is the perfect help.

Whether or not you have been married a long time, this book is great for helping grow your marriage and relationship. It is a great gift for couples who are soon to be married.

The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman is one of the most rewarding and captivating books I have ever read. In focusing on the specific needs of others, you will start to build the deepest relationships possible

Review Of The Way Of The Shepard By Kevin Leman

The Way of the Shepherd: 7 Ancient Secrets to Managing Productive People by Kevin Leman is a great leadership handbook. This book can be used for those who strive to be leaders and for leaders who need to learn how to be better leaders.

Now don’t let the title scare you off. It is not describing that all of your employees are like a flock of animals and need to be treated like such.

We know Jesus as a gentle shepherd of his children and we should do the same. As a leader we need to have a higher sense of responsibility for the security, welfare, happiness, and activity of our workplace.

This book does not teach you to be the boss, but rather the leader and how to lead with your heart. Keep in mind that yes some people may have to work for you, but in this book it will make you want them to work with you.

The Way of the Shepherd is about a young leader who is working his way up the ladder as a reporter. He interviews a well-respected CEO and gains the keys to exceptional leadership. What are these keys?

  • Know the Condition of Your Flock
  • Discover the Shape of Your Sheep
  • Help Your Sheep Identify with You
  • Make Your Pasture a Safe Place
  • The Staff of Direction
  • The Rod of Correction
  • The Heart of the Shepherd

As you can see, the titles of these 7 steps are relatable to the Bible, which is the ultimate guidebook to a successful life.

I found that this book was an easy read and went pretty quick. The story of the reporter kept me so locked in to reading this book and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

Now, who says you can’t mix business with spirituality?? Check out The Way of the Shepherd by Kevin Leman and find out how to manage a successful career in a Godly way.

Randy Alcorn’s Heaven

What happens when we die?

We all have questions death and what happens to our loved ones when they die, or what will happen to us when we pass on.

Will we go to Heaven? What is it like?? What happens to our pets?

It seems that questions continue on and one, and we seldom get a straight answer.  However, Randy Alcorn uses the bible to quench our thirst for the answers.

I would recommend Heaven by Randy Alcorn to all Christians. This is a great book for Christians and non-Christians alike..

While some may feel that the stereotypical view of Heaven – you know, sitting around on a cloud and playing a harp for eternity- may be uninspiring, Alcorn does his best to show readers that Heaven is so much more than than, andthat if we truly want to experience paradise, Heaven is the place to be.

This book is quite a feat in itself. There is a lot to it and it can be repetitive, but I feel if you stick with it, you will learn about the Heaven that God has created for us.

Everyone always thinks that Heaven is unattainable, but Alcorn has done the research and now its bound and printed in black and white.

At times, it may seem that Alcorn veers away from the Bible..

Heaven is divided into three organized sections.

Alcorn’s theology may be rough for some, but it is well worth the effort.. There is also a “question and answers” section about Heaven. The final part shows us how to live now that we know about Heaven.

Trust me. If you have a question about Heaven, it is explained in this book.

I’d also like to hear your thoughts about Heaven by Randy Alcorn.

God bless and enjoy reading!

Fear God By Francis Chan

Basic. Fear God- it’s a simple message coming from the renown author and speaker Francis Chan.

Basic is a new seven-part film series by the makers of NOOMA featuring Francis Chan he uses a simple, full, and beautiful journey that our lives should look like.

Going back to well- the basics of fearing God -this series also includes the basics of the questions like ” Who is God ” In this series the basic foundation of faith is addressed questions about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We’re all looking for a solid foundation in life- something we can build our lives on. In this series it puts it simply how to live out our lives like the church should. This series has been such a helpful tool to me in my life. This is a potent and strong DVD based around the essential truth of scripture: ” The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

To understand the relationship between God and man, we turn to those who have directly interacted with Him in the Bible. In each case, they are met with fear. Not respect, reverence or courage, but sheer speechlessness, humility, and complete surrender. They’re overcome with pure fear and many of them cry out to be destroyed.

Most people today have lost this fear. We need to understand that a true fear of God leads to the keeping of His commandments, leads to life abundant, and is the beginning of wisdom.

Within this deeply impacting teaching series one will discover:

– What does Scripture indicate when it commands people to fear God?
– What is the difference between fear of the Lord and mere respect or reverence?
– What does proper biblical application of the fear of God lead to in your life?

This is a project that is well done and has helped me in amazing ways.

I highly suggest this DVD to anyone from youth groups, small groups, couples, and even family devotions.

Plan B Book

This blog is running an unlicensed version of ReviewAZON.

Things just never seem to go as planned. We all want to have a great job, a loving wife or husband, healthy children, a nice car, and a big house.

What happened to those dreams?

Maybe you even have lesser expectations for your life, but God hasn’t even given you that. Life tends to set us off our dreamy path and sends us on unwanted and unexpected detours.

In times like these I suggest reading Pete Wilson’s Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn’t Show Up the Way You Thought He Would?

I think the following paragraph will give you a taste of what Wilson’s book offers.

“We spend a lot of time worried about what is happening to us. We focus a lot of attention on when things might occur. We ask a lot of questions about where we will end up. Often in life, the what, when and where are not going to turn out the way you want them to turn out. You don’t always get to choose those things, but you do get to choose the why. You may not be able to choose what your future is going to be, but any given time you DO get to choose WHY you’re living the way you are.”

Wilson openly admits that he does not have all the answers. All he knows is that we have the need to believe in God. How do we exactly use them? You will have to figure it out for yourself.

This book guides you with powerful messages making you realize that Plan A seldom comes through and we need to know when to resort to Plan B.

Wilson openly shares the hardships, downfalls, and pains of people including those of the Bible. I think most everyone will find some sort of answer becauseit isn’t sugar coating. Your problems won’t look petty and you will learn how to deal with them.

Even if you feel like you are living the life you planned you may come to realize you are actually in a Plan B state-of-mind.  It is great to examine your life and make sure you are not too busy for God. You may find that you are not living up to your full potential.

Check out Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn’t Show Up the Way You Though He Would by Pete Wilson. Seek God and His direction. Grow.
